Third Age Coaching

What is third age coaching?
Coaching, at its heart, is using conversations to help you decide what needs changing in your life and to support you in finding ways to make that change happen. It sounds simple, but it can be a powerful tool to improve your life in so many ways.
Up till now coaching has most often been used to help working-age people improve their life skills and work performance. I use coaching with older people to make their third age a more purposeful, engaged, healthier, and happier time of life.

Who can benefit from coaching?
Coaching can help anyone build a better future, or achieve specific goals, provided you are ready to make some changes and can be open-minded. You will need to consider what might be holding you back and what new attitudes or beliefs could help you achieve your goals. You must also be prepared to set aside some time
between sessions for reflection, research and action.
Coaching will not be the best route if you have psychological problems. All clients will have an initial information call, so if you are not sure if coaching is right for you then I can help you decide. I will signpost other sources of help if these would be more appropriate for you.

What sort of issues can coaching help with?
There are so many areas where coaching would be useful. Some examples could be:
-
Finding a new sense of purpose after a major life change like retirement or bereavement,
-
Dealing positively with changes like downsizing or moving home,
-
Tackling loneliness
-
Setting up a new business in your third age
-
Deciding to live a healthier life and help with how to motivate yourself
-
Coming to terms with declining physical or mental abilities
-
Finding ways to improve a life that has become boring or stale
-
And many more!

How does coaching happen?
You book a free initial information call, then we can chat through your ideas, get to know each other a little, and discuss whether I am the right person to help you make the changes you want to see. If you decide to go ahead with me for coaching, then we will discuss your goals and a start date. I offer
various programs and am happy to discuss which program might be right for you, or you can think about it after our call.
The initial information call isn’t a sales-type call. It’s to explain what I do, to find out a bit about each other, to answer any questions, and to see if I think I can help you. If we aren’t a good fit, or I think someone else could be more suitable, or you want to think about coaching later, that’s completely fine.
Coaching can be either in person in Clapham, South-West London, or online, using Zoom or WhatsApp. I can help you get started if you aren’t familiar with the technology. Coaching sessions are confidential, and I will not disclose any details about you to anyone without your permission.
Once we start to work together, we will explore what changes you want to make, why, and how you can make them. You will probably have homework between sessions- thinking about what we have discussed, researching opportunities, or maybe taking some action ready for next time. We will then build up your skills and motivation, to take action to achieve your goals.
When our sessions together end, you will have more clarity about where you want to be in the future and how you can get there. If you ever need to come back, for a refresher, a different project or further learning, then you can book another session or two.
What are you waiting for? You are the only person who can change your life.
Let me support you to make it happen.
