About Third Age Coaching
I’m Andrea, a transformative coach who uses humanistic principles. The wording may be unfamiliar to you if you have never thought about coaching before. Basically, this means that I try to facilitate change in my clients at the deepest level, using tools and techniques that value them as a whole person. Working with me enables you to alter beliefs and thought habits that are causing you problems or holding you back from achieving your full potential.
Coaching is my third-age career and I have personal experience of many of the areas that I coach around. I have worked as a tax planner and chartered accountant, retired, travelled widely, been widowed, lost a son and a brother, moved areas, downsized, been lonely, have ongoing health issues, retrained, gained a degree and a masters, started a new business, done voluntary work, set up new groups: all these experiences have added to my understanding of change and transition as an integral part of a whole life. Personal life experience isn’t necessary to be a good coach, but I think it adds to my empathy, and understanding of some of the issues that can affect older people. I also know how good it can feel to set new goals and aspirations for the third age and put in the work to achieve them.
I believe that we all need to regularly update our skills and knowledge, to continually improve our abilities. I am currently undertaking training with the Animas centre for coaching to become accredited with the International Coaching Federation (the largest international professional coaching association). Formal qualifications aren’t essential to be an excellent coach, but this training is helping me gain valuable skills and insights.
I hope that we can work together to improve your life.
